If you’ve been following my blog, Snapchat, or Instagram for a while, then you know I love me a good weekend brunch 😋(or two)! I always get tons of messages asking questions like, “Where do you find all these bomb places?” or “Oooh, that looks so good! Where is that from?!”. I get SO many questions on a reg, that it only makes sense that I launch a series to give you all the yummy deetz in one place! Besides, we should all live deliciously, right?
As you can already tell by the title, this series is aptly named #BrunchSoHard – because, when it comes to food, this girl likes to ‘go hard or go home’!👊🏽 I’m kicking things off at one of my fave spots in Westchester, NY – Sofrito White Plains!

Atmosphere is very important to me when choosing restaurants. I need the floors to be clean, the furniture in good shape, and the space to be right; call me Picky Patty 💁🏽 idc idc idc.
I love that Sofrito White Plains hits all those marks! The decor is vibrantly modern; and the layout is so spacious, you don’t feel like you’re sharing your meal with the stranger one table over lol (I HATE when that happens).

The tropical vibe in the restaurant is also one of my fave things about the spot. From the brightly coloured decorative hangings, to the salsa music playing in the background, the owners did a great job creating an authentic Puerto Rican feel.
For starters, I like to get the chicken quesadilla or beef/chicken empanadas – both are really delicious and flavourful. I really enjoy the sauce that comes with the empanadas; can’t quite put my finger on what’s in it, but it’s the perfect balance of sweet and savory tastes. The quesadilla is rather filling, so I’d suggest ordering it to share, if you’re not a big eater.

Sunday Brunch at Sofrito is served Prix Fixe style; which is awesome for dining on a budget. You get to choose a starter, entrée, and unlimited red/white sangria or mimosas at a flat price. (2 hr limit)
My favourite brunch entrée is Steak & Eggs, so naturally it’s one of the first things I tried there. The Steak is well-seasoned and cooked just right, and the breakfast potatoes are SOOOO goood 😍😋🙌🏽
The sangrias are also pretty good – definitely NOT your average sangria lol Those drinks are another level of boozy! Unlike the traditional recipe, of wine, juice, and fruit, Sofrito’s take on the bev also includes several different rums 🍻
Another fave of mine is the Ropa Vieja, which is shredded beef served with rice & beans, eggs, and plantains – YUM!

Everything I’ve ever had at this restaurant has been consistently delightful, and that’s what keeps me coming back! If you’re ever in the area or want to try a new place, I definitely recommend Sofrito White Plains. There’s also a NYC location that I want to try, so stay tuned for that review. Until next time ✌🏽️ #BrunchSoHard
